I began my real estate career 17 years ago–right after I purchased a new construction home from a small custom builder in Warrenton, Virginia.  The builder and his sales personnel liked my interest and enthusiasm for their new construction so much that they offered me a job in a model home as a sales associate!  I thoroughly enjoyed helping potential buyers learn the different models/floor plans of the builder and the standard and optional features that came with the homes.

During the same time, my mother, Nancy Grasman, was beginning to build her real estate business as well as her reputation in the industry; she affiliated with Coldwell Banker in Fairfax, Virginia.  Because she was a top-producing real estate agent and her business was continuing to grow, she asked if I’d be interested in working with and for her as her transaction coordinator.

Having earned my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Marketing, I felt real estate would be a great fit for me and an excellent business opportunity.  Excitedly, in 2004, I joined on board and worked the backchannels for Nancy’s real estate business–processing contracts and other paperwork, ordering inspections, tracking contingency timelines, helping with the marketing of new listings, and more.

In 2009, I became a licensed realtor with Coldwell Banker to assist Nancy with her growing number of clients, and Nancy and I officially became a Mother-Daughter real estate team–The Grasman Group LLC now known as The Smoot Grasman Group LLC!

Whether you are a first-time or a seasoned home buyer, owning a home is one of the most important aspects of providing for a family or for yourself.  My husband and I adopted our two sons from Taiwan.  Giving them a home in which to grow up and flourish in the community, neighborhood, and local school system was and still is very important to me.  Consequently, I enjoy helping other people find the perfect fit for themselves too!

Being successful in real estate takes consistency and determination.  By running Marathons (I have finished the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington, DC on several occasions) and teaching indoor cycling at the Old Town Athletic Campus in Warrenton has also helped also me develop those traits.  I will work hard and consistently for you to help you realize your dream of home ownership!

I grew up on a fruit farm in Ludington, Michigan.  Working on our farm taught me a good work ethic.  Because of my work ethic, I will work diligently for you—whether you are a seller or a buyer or both—to provide you with best possible real estate experience!

I married my high school sweetheart and because of his career in the US Secret Service, we moved several times early in our marriage.  With each move, we had to rely on an experienced real estate agent to help us find a home.  Consequently, I know how important it is for a realtor to have integrity, to be honest, and to have the clients’ interests at the heart of everything she does.

In college, I earned a Bachelor’s of Business Education and a Master’s of Business Administration; I was a business teacher for just over 20 years.  My last 15 years of teaching were in Fairfax County Public Schools where I taught Accounting and Information Systems in Chantilly and Centreville High Schools.  I learned to set goals, to train students, and to get along with many types of different personalities and learning styles.  These skills have transferred over to real estate.  I can guide my buyers and sellers smoothly through a real estate transaction—whether you are a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned homeowner.

Teaching was a convenient career while my raising my two daughters.   However, I always wanted to own my own business and put my MBA to work.  Therefore, when my daughters were in college, I earned my real estate license and started my real estate business.  I affiliated with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, which is the number one real estate company in the country.

I have been a realtor with Coldwell Banker for 20 years.  I have built a reputation on professionalism, ethics, and a sincere desire to help families realize the American dream—home ownership!
